福井県丸岡町(現坂井市)生まれ。桐朋学園大学音楽学部演奏学科を首席で卒業、同時にNTTドコモ賞受賞。同大学在学中より第67回日本音楽コンクールピアノ部門第2位をはじめ、多数の主要な国内コンクールで入賞を果たす。
2003年、第23回ポッツォーリ国際ピアノコンクール最高位(1位なしの2位)、同時にロータリー特別賞受賞。2005年、第51回マリア・カナルス国際音楽コンクールピアノ部門第3位。これらの実績を認められ、第18回江戸川区文化奨励賞を最年少で受賞。
2002年の東京文化会館におけるデビューリサイタル(日本ショパン協会主催)を皮切りに各地にてソロ活動を行い、桐朋アカデミーオーケストラ(故J. フルネ指揮)、コペンハーゲンフィルハーモニー管弦楽団(D. リデル指揮)、ハンガリー国立フィルハーモニー管弦楽団(小林研一郎指揮)等と多岐に渡り共演。近年は室内楽の分野でも幅広い活動を展開している。
これまでに大野眞嗣、広瀬康の両氏、ディーナ・ヨッフェ氏等に師事。
Kawamura is originally from Fukui Prefecture. He graduated from the Toho Gakuen School of Music with honors and also won the NTT DoCoMo Award in 2001.
While still a student in Japan, he took home numerous prizes from various major competitions including second place in the Piano Section of the 67th Music Competition of Japan.
At Italy in 2003, he was the highest-ranking contestant, winning second place (there was no first prize winner that year) at the 23rd International Piano Competition Ettore Pozzoli, and was also awarded the Rotary Prize. Also, in 2005, he won third place at the 51st International Competition for Musical Performance Maria Canals de Barcelona. In the same year he was the youngest ever to be awarded the 18th Edogawa Cultural Prize.
Since starting his career as a pianist, with his debut recital in 2002 at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Concert Hall, sponsored by The Frederic Chopin Society of Japan, he annually gives many concerts and recitals. He has performed with a number of well-known conductors, artists, and orchestras such as Jean Fournet (Conductor), Kenichiro Kobayashi (Conductor), Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, In addition to these musical performances, he takes part in wider range of activities with genre-straddling performers.
He has studied under numerous artists such as famous Dina Joffe and is currently studying under the musical giants, Yasushi Hirose and Shinji Ono.
